Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm fundraising for YoungMinds as I believe the Mental Health of some of our young people, and therefore our future generations, is vulnerable and worth prioritising.
I've suffered from varying levels of anxiety and depression over the past 15 years which I initially became aware of as a teenager. Throughout these times, I struggled finding my place at School, amongst friends and in the workplace. Over time I realised there was help available and that I didn't need to continue to feel that way.
I feel that now more than ever, growing up in a very digitally connected world, children, teenagers & young adults could feel under greater social peer pressure and become more easily targeted & isolated without knowing where to go for help. According to statistics published by the Samaritans, suicide rates in under 25th increased by 23.7% in 2018 - we can help to reduce this. (https://www.samaritans.org/about-samaritans/research-policy/suicide-facts-and-figures/)
Now more increasingly during the Coronavirus pandemic, young people are isolated from their friends, unable to attend their school and their usual clubs and activities have been suspended. YoungMinds is going to become a lifeline to some of those vulnerable children and I want us to support their valuable work in finding ways to Act Early, Wise Up To Wellbeing in schools and Get Britain Talking about mental health.
Please consider donating whatever you can to support this amazing cause, Children deserve to know there is help out there for them!
Every little helps, so thank you for your support.
*CORONAVIRUS UPDATE* Due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic, the Lymington RNLI 10k has been cancelled this year. I therefore will run this 10k distance alone following my own route. My own health permitting, I will then also sign up to do the New Forest Marathon 10k in September if it goes ahead.
