Story
This coming October, I am taking on the Inca Trail as a fundraising challenge! I would really appreciate any help to reach my fundraising target.
I am now nearly 4 years older than when I signed up to do this I need all the help and support I can get!!
Galloway’s is a charity I have been involved in for a long time now, both as a service user and a volunteer. They cover Lancashire and Sefton providing a wide range of support for blind and visually impaired people. A significant aspect of assistance includes helping with the use of specialised technology enabling blind and visually impaired people to keep up with the modern world. Their Get Active program allows blind and visually impaired people to get active, including walking, curling and rock climbing, to mention just a few. A program not just good for your fitness but for total well-being and increasing self-esteem and confidence in unfamiliar situations. Gliding and driving days are the highlights of the year, allowing people to drive dual-controlled cars around the three sisters' race track. I have also taken part in their water parks, a week-long activity trip at Coniston; where blind and visually impaired people can go hiking, sailing, kayaking and windsurfing.
As a volunteer, I run a peer support group in Ormskirk, where we have speakers and do activities such as crafts and well-being walks.
