Story
Some people climb the tallest mountains, ride thousands of miles or even shave their head for charity! Well, my challenge is physically nowhere near as gruelling, but it will be my own personal Everest, to walk 10,000 steps a day for a week. Not much, you might think, but for me it's a challenge I should be able to meet!
I'm planning to go on some of my favourite walks - circling Avebury stones, along the Ridgeway in Wiltshire, through the trees at Westonbirt Arboretum, around Durham Park, across Ladies Mile and around the Downs in Clifton, along Bristol Harbourside - oh, and to the pub in Kington St Michael for Sunday lunch on the last day! Come wind, rain, snow, hail, I'll be walking....if the weather is good, feel free to join me...
One hundred years ago the vote was given to women over 30 years of age, women like my Great Great Aunt Minnie Baldock, a Suffragette who was imprisoned twice for the cause. I think she would be proud that 'Walk in her Shoes' is raising money for CARE to support girls who have to walk over 10,000 steps each day just to collect fresh water, who are trapped in the cycle of poverty with no way of fulfilling their dreams.
