Story

Why Mind?

Every year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem. But hundreds of thousands of people are still struggling.

At ETC Sports Surfaces (ETC) & at Mind, we believe no-one should face a mental health health problem alone.

Mind listen, give you support, advice & support your corner.

This charity do some wonderful things for people who suffer on a day-to-day basis & with the hard work they put in, they can really help those who need help others can't give.

My Story

Having experienced mental health issues first hand & knowing so many friends & family who suffer with it, i wanted to give something back to such a fantastic charity who can help & support you.

Nobody should be afraid to speak up about mental health & raising awareness is something i care about a lot. Nobody should go unheard or be left to worried about what others think.

Whether it's depression from losing a loved one, or feeling to anxious to want to step out your house, mental health comes in so many different forms. Everyone has a different story & it's not about giving someone a label or thinking it's too easy to say you suffer from mental health, the most important thing is to talk to people about your problems & issues you experience rather than bottling them up. That is what raising awareness is all about. You are not alone!

Why Brighton Marathon?

For anyone who knows me very well knows I've suffered with injuries my whole life & even during the training at the minute i have been held back twice because of injury. I had my third knee operation a couple of years ago & was told i could not do any sport competitively again & should not do anything extreme like a marathon.

I am missing my articular cartilage in my knee & therefore sports like football are impossible for me to do now. However in time I've learnt that anything is achievable if you put your mind to it & i want to try & achieve the impossible by doing my first ever marathon & raising money for such a great cause at the same time.

I'm not the type of guy who can sit at home & just do casual training or exercise & thanks to a very good friend of mine & work colleague (who is also raising money on this page for me & running it with me) i have found a new hobby which I enjoy & i will do whatever it takes to cross that line at the end.

What We Hope To Achieve

We are really hoping we can raise our £1,000.00 target & anything else is a bonus.

Sue & I will be doing our upmost to raise as much money for this wonderful charity & hope it will be put to good use.

ETC will be supporting us with our fundraising & have promised to also either match what we raise or make a significant contribution towards it.

We thank you for all your support & any donation (no matter how small) is massively appreciated.
