Story
Martha was born in Jan 2015 with a very rapid heart
beat (double what a baby would normally have). It's technical name is
PJRT SVT ...and is basically an electrical short circuit in her heart.
She had a 50/50 chance of survival at birth, and was delivered 6 weeks early.
We spent a month on the neonatal ward and then 2 years back and fore to hospital whenever she had an episode.
She had to take 4 different medications 5 times a day - these suppressed her appetite and made her skin photo-sensitive…but kept her heart going.
When she turned 2 it became obvious the meds weren’t working as they should, and we were told she would need surgery.
She had that surgery in August 2017 - a cryo-ablation where her extra circuit was frozen, and she was completely cured.
As a family we committed to raising £1 million in our lifetime to say thank you to the incredible teams of consultants, doctors, nurses, sonographers and everyone else involved in her care at University Hospital Wales and Bristol Children’s Hospital. So far we have raised over £82,000, and with your help we can get closer to £90k!
