Story
On Sunday 8th September, Wellgate Care and London Place will be competing in the Channel Tri 2019 in Folkestone, Kent, raising money for Pilgrims Hospices in East Kent (pilgrimshospices.org).
Channel Tri is an Olympic distance relay triathlon consisting of a 1.5km sea swim, 40km road cycle and 10km run. It’s certainly not for the faint hearted, but we have a crack team who have been training hard over the summer months with the sole intention of finishing outright winners of the event!
Our ambitions are not purely competitive however, as we are entering the event to raise money for Pilgrims Hospices, who provide much needed care and support for those with life-limiting illnesses. Your generous donation will contribute towards the provision of care, both at home and at Pilgrims Hospices’ three therapy centres in Ashton, Canterbury and Thanet.
Our team line up:
Richard Gamble (Swim) – With an honours list stretching back to his teenage years as a national standard swimmer, Richard has most recently represented Team GB at the Invictus Games in Sydney. He has strong personal connections to Pilgrims Hospices and is dedicated to adding another medal to his collection.
Jack Davey (Bike) – Also known as the Cornish Express, Jack has been riding bikes since a young age and is able to combine his fantastic stamina on the hills with blistering speed on the flats to leave his rivals trailing.
Henry Beynon (Run) – Henry has been optimising his training over the summer months with a non-stop regime, and with an impressive set of times over longer distances he now has what it takes to anchor the team on the final leg and bring home glory to the Wellgate Care team.
