South Africa is ranked by the World Bank as the most unequal country in the world, ahead of 161 countries including Congo and Iraq. In simple terms, this means that children, and especially black children, growing up in marginalised, rural parts of the country have much poorer life prospects; they’re less likely to finish school, less likely to get a degree, and ultimately, less likely to secure a decent job. KHULA’s mission is to break this cycle through improving the quality of education children receive, from preschool through to graduation.
