Story

The impact of the tragic events that took place on Monday 22nd May have been felt across the world. 22 innocent people lost their lives and many more experienced and saw things that will stay with them forever. This is our way of playing a small part in raising money for support for those who attended the concert and for their families. All money raised will go directly to the We Heart Manchester Fund and we hope it is used to help anyone who needs support, now or in the future. Monday's incident has affected so many people, from school children to grandparents and those from all walks of life. It is has been amazing to see the united response from the local, national and global community and this is our way of showing our support!

I am the Deputy Headteacher at Haslingden High School and a significant number of our students attended the concert on Monday. They have had an unimaginably difficult week and we have tried to support them in anyway we can. It has affected individuals in many different ways and we hope that the money raised can help them through this traumatic time.

We have decided to organise an event that will remember the 22 victims. Over the weekend of 9th, 10th and 11th June we will run up and down Pendle Hill (Barley, Lancashire) 22 times. This will result in around 22,000ft of climbing and 70 miles of running. There are six of us so far who will be completing all 22 climbs over the weekend.

(Anyone can come and get involved but we must stress that this is not a marshalled event but an open invitation. Anyone wanting to join the runners or walk up and down with their family, do so at their own risk. Pendle Hill is just short of a mountain in height and appropriate clothing and footwear would be required. We would advise those walking to do so with plenty of time given to allow for breaks appropriate to the age and ability of the group, water/food to be carried and for the walk/run to be completed well before light is lost)

We will stick to the schedule so people will know where to meet if they wish to do so. The details are included in the picture above. Each leg will begin from the Pendle Inn in Barley (BB12 9JX) who have very generously allowed us to use their car park as our base. For anyone who has never been up Pendle Hill, now is the perfect opportunity and for anyone who hasn't had a pint of Moorhouses, the Pendle Inn can help with that too! Come along and contribute in anyway you can.
