We will do whatever it takes to help you live life as fully as you can

Story

***UPDATE***

Well what a year we have had so far.... Covid-19 has changed so many things and some peoples lives will have changed forever, which is heart-breaking.

I'm sure you all will have had many plans postponed or cancelled too. This of course has been done to keep us all as safe as we are able.

Unfortunately our planned hike has also been a victim of the pandemic and has been postponed.

We have from the beginning wanted to challenge ourselves and raise some money for a very worthy cause, and this has not changed. We have therefore looked the options available to us.

To allow us to give our all, we have decided to move our hike to July 2021.  To challenge ourselves further we have moved this to the Yorkshire Dales.  The hike is a more hilly walk and therefore will be a bigger challenge for us (especially on the basis we now have gained lockdown unfit bodies eek)

The rainbow / positive element for me is that the date will be even more special on the basis that 3rd July is my dad's birthday. I am hoping on this basis he will be with me in spirit helping me get through it.

I am unable to edit the official hike details on the page fully so please note this.  The money raised will still be going to Macmillan.

Please give anything you can.  Your support is really appreciated (and definitely helpful) to push me through what may be the biggest fitness challenge of my life to date.

Thank you in advance and please stay safe.

My dad went into hospital in 2016 with arm pain thinking after bad flu that at the worst he had a small stroke. After a stay in hospital he was essentially told that he had incurable stomach cancer, with a diagnosis of 6 months! It hit us all like a brick!

Along side his devastating news he was told that although he could try  treatment he had another issue whereas the chemo, due to the secondary condition could react and kill him!
This was after the fact his only brother had not long died of cancer of the stomach too.
He bravely decided to try it, it however did not end well and he ended back in hospital within a matter of hours! Thankfully with the quick reaction of our step-mum (I believe she saved his life at that point.)

The hospital visit helped but also confirmed that without major surgery to remove most of his organs there was essentially nothing that could help change his diagnosis.
It was so hard to take in for everyone. However our dad bravely dealt with the diagnosis and with the help of our step-mum planned and went through his own bucket list.

He surprised us all and everyday bravely fought long and hard (with many stays in hospital and hospices following sepsis etc).
We were all amazed and proud with the way he dealt with everything. He did not want to leave us but he fought long and hard and excelled passed the diagnosis lasting 18 months.
We were amazed and proud of him and still to this day look back amazed on how strong he was!
We miss him dearly and wish he could be with us.
Macmillan helped him and the family in so many ways I can't explain!

Up until the point of his diagnosis I never really understood how much Macmillan could be involved.
I hope and pray no-one has to go through what we have gone through, however know this. Macmillan will be there for you and everything you add to support what they do helps in more ways that you can ever imagine .
I am doing a hike to try and do what I can to show my support in a really worthy cause.

To do it I need to raise £250 for the charity and would be grateful for anything you can give to support such a worthy cause.

I would be grateful if you could please help support

Thank you in advance
