Story
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I've only gone and registered to take on the Alzheimer's Society's challenge of walking up and down Mount Snowdon in North Wales through the night!
I've been wanting to do something for a while to raise money for this particular charity and when I discovered this event I knew that this was the one for me. It will definitely be my 'marathon', it will push me to my limits and considering the difficulties that carers for dementia sufferers and those suffering with the illness themselves go through, it's the least I can do.
Over the years several close friends of mine have had very personal experience of dementia effecting their relatives and now I'm sad to say that my family too are experiencing the grief and distress of watching a loved one diminish and slowly fade away due to this terrible disease.
It seems that we all now know someone who has been touched by this condition and it will only get worse as we all live longer. We need to fund research and hopefully discover just what is causing this particular explosion of illness in the brain. I feel a sense of helplessness and this is why I'm taking on this challenge.
It will be hard graft, but this event seems so appropriate for me because my family have all spent such happy times in Snowdonia. I shall stand at the top of that mountain ( if I don't get blown away) and shout all of their names to the wind!!!
Now... donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I have to raise a minimum of £400, but I'm really hoping that between now and next May and with your help I might smash that target!
THANK YOU.
