Story
We have completed Jeanette's 3 peaks!!
3 turned into 5 walks, but we made it through them all. Maybe didn't quite make the summits of all of them, however Jeanette pushed herself to her limits to get as close as we could safely.
Compass have managed to source a treadmill from a very generous owner and we have now raised sufficient that "Hope" is on her way to Compass. Following servicing and installation she should soon be ready for her first feet.
We are continuing to keep the pages open to cover installation costs and also to go towards getting more exciting, innovative therapy equipment to the centre - next up the amazing Mollii suit!!
Thank you so much to everyone who's contributed to get us this far, every donation has helped and you should all be proud of yourselves for helping to bring this awesome bit of kit to Compass where hopefully it will have an incredible benefit to all kinds of people in the Lothians who struggle with mobility.
I'm so proud of Jeanette, it's been very hard, there've been a lot of tears but we got there.
My wife has struggled with MS for 10 years. The services and support of the Compass staff have been invaluable in that time keeping her mostly mobile, independent and sane.
Now we want to help Gillian help others by raising funds for her dream machine the AlterG treadmill; this outstanding technology uses differential air pressure to allow users to reduce their body weight and gravitational load. This can help them build and improve muscle tone, balance and fitness.
Jeanette and I are taking on 3 very different climbs over 2 months each challenging her abilities in a different way.
Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh - a short, steep climb with a scramble to the top.
Cairgnorm mountain, Aviemore - one of the UK's highest peak, a long climb up the Cas basin returning down the Windy Ridge.
Lost Valley, Glencoe (Coire Gabhail) - A tricky and potentially dangerous climb including a challenging river crossing to reach the hidden valley between the Three Sisters.
