West is delighted to announce that it will support the fundraising efforts of The Christie over the next two seasons – the world famous charity and hospital dedicated to cancer treatment and research here in South Manchester.
As part of the club’s role in helping to raise funds for The Christie Charitable Fund, the new men’s First Team home shirt will feature the charity’s logo on its sleeve and will donate £1 from every replica shirt sold in the club shop to the charity.
As well as this, The Christie and the club will host specific fundraising events throughout the next two seasons on match days at The Step Places Stadium to raise further awareness of the work The Christie does in the local area. Fans will also be able to donate to the charity thanks to a brand new contactless donation machine featuring Christie Bear in the clubhouse.
Commenting on the link-up, West chairman Steve Eckersley said: “I’m thrilled that the club is now in a position to help raise funds for a such an amazing and life changing charity.
“Many of us in South Manchester are extremely proud to have The Christie doing the world-class work it does on our doorstep and across the country. I’m sure club officials, players and our fans will welcome them warmly to The Step Places Stadium and support their fund raising efforts over the next two seasons.”
Claire Ferguson from The Christie charity, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that our local football team has chosen to support us by putting our logo on their strip for the forthcoming season.
“It is great that we will be seen by all these fantastic supporters and we will be hoping our partnership will lead to success both on and off the pitch. We are really looking forward to coming down and supporting the team this season and creating a winning link with this great community football club.”
