Story
We are an enthusiastic bunch of students, currently in our final few months of our Higher National Diplomas in Fitness, Health and exercise.
As part of our personal training qualifications we are delivering 12 week fitness programs to individuals referred from Recovery across Mental Health (RAMH) and Scottish War Blinded (SWB). Throughout the 12 week programs we hope to empower individuals in their own lives through physical activity.
Currently it is estimated that more than one in three people are affected by a mental health problem each year in Scotland. Recovery across mental health is a Scottish charity delivery over 250,000 free face to face hours of support to individuals promoting recovery from mental ill health, and empowering people to build independent fulfilled lives. RAMH provides professional care and services to those affected by mental ill health; depression, self harm, bipolar disorder, anxiety and other conditions.
Currently in Scotland today, there are thousands of men and women who have served in the Armed Forces, Scottish War Blinded is a Scottish charity supporting all veterans with sight loss, Scottish War blinded support veterans no matter if they lost their sight during or after service. They offer free support to any veterans who may need it, by supporting rehabilitation, home modifications, sports, recreational and social activities to ensure veterans live fulfilled lives.
As you can imagine for us as students it has been an invaluable experience working with such amazing individuals, helping them to improve their quality of life through physical activity. Seeing our clients overcome various obstacles in their lives including reaching their fitness and health goals. It has been a fantastic learning experience for all and we want to give back to these 2 fantastic charities that continually support individuals across Scotland.
What better way to give back than signing up for 2019 Tough Mudder Scotland. 15 students will participate in this years Tough Mudder that spans 10 miles and includes 25 obstacles…. Yes! 25! It includes mud swamps, electric shocks, deep frozen pools, adrenaline high climbs and much much more. It will be a test of pure endurance and strength, sheer grit, determination and epic TEAM WORK!!
Please help us on our quest to help these two remarkable charities continue their work helping individuals with mental health issues and visual impairment.
Please note that each student has paid for their own place on Tough Mudder, so every penny raised will go straight to the charities!
Thank you so much for your support
