Story
On the 4th December 2013 our youngest daughter Leah was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma brain tumour. After 4 operations and numerous set-backs Leah somehow kept smiling her way through 9 months of chemotherapy.
At the end of October 2014 we heard what we had desperately been waiting for - Leah had beaten Cancer. We had a great couple of months and the best Christmas ever.
The time soon passed and before we knew it Leah's scan and check up was upon us. This is when our lives changed yet again, devastatingly, the tumour had grown back. Leah quickly underwent more chemotherapy combined with a 6 week intensive course of radiotherapy, followed by another 6 months of chemotherapy which was completed in December 2015.
We started 2016 with the news that yet again Leah had beaten her cancer. Leah has now been clear for 8 years but all the treatment has left her with long term side effects, including mobility issues, learning difficulties and hearing loss. Despite this and the medications still required, Leah continues to smile through most of her days while learning how to cope with her difficulties.
I am hoping that one day there will be a cure so that no more children have to go through what my daughter has.
