Story
In 2021 our lives as we knew it were turned upside down when my beautiful little girl Esmé was diagnosed with SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) Type 2. This is is a muscle weakness/wastage condition & without the treatment now on offer she may only have had a limited life.
Esmé battles on everyday, the reality is, she will be unable to walk without assistance throughout her life. This is the reason her Daddy (me) will be doing the London Marathon in a wheelchair. I figure the least I can do is 26.2 miles, when she faces her life in a chair.
Demelza have been a huge support in our journey with providing us with lifts to and from the Evelina hospital in London for appointments, coming round for play dates to give us some respite & allow us to get normal jobs done. They allow us and other families with disabilities & Illnesses the opportunity to use their facilities such as their hydro pool, soft play, family activities and respite.
The support they give families such as mine is unbelievable & by doing the marathon and raising much needed funds for them to continue their work is a way I can say thank you & do my bit to help all of the families that I know need their services & support.
Please help me & dig deep to support this fantastic cause.
Thank you
Wayne
