We all know someone who has faced their own challenge with Cancer. 

My challenge has involved two years of training. Hundreds of miles of biking and running. Learning to swim front crawl. 18 months ago I couldn't put my face in water without holding my nose let alone do front crawl !!

I was teetotal last year for over 8 months before racing a half Iron distance triathlon. I have been teetotal this year since New Years day. 

Over the last few months I have spent my weekends riding for up to 8 hilly hours and going straight into a run on a Saturday followed by riding for 2 to 3 hours on a Sunday morning and swimming in open water for up to 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon. The week days have been fairly similar , involving running, riding and swimming before and after work.

I have collected injuries , nearly drowned , discovered saddle sores , endured painful physio , missed out on nights out and lie ins , but none of this compares to the challenge of facing cancer. 

On Sunday 20th July 2014. I start at 0600 at Pennington Flash with a 2.4 mile swim straight into a very hilly 112 mile bike ride followed by a 26.2 mile marathon finishing in front of Bolton Town Hall. This will hopefully take under 13 hours. Only then can I call myself an Ironman !!

Swim 2.4 miles. Bike 112 miles. Run 26.2 miles. Brag the rest of your life !!

I'm doing my bit. All you need to do is give us a couple of quid or whatever you can afford!
