Story
I am running in the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise money for QEST. QEST funds the training and education of talented and aspiring craftspeople, helping to sustain Britains cultural heritage by supporting excellence in British Craftsmanship. In 2011 I was awarded a bursary to complete my own apprenticeship, and I wish to give this opportunity to others.
Over the past 29 years, QEST has awarded £4.3 million to just over 500 craftspeople of all ages and backgrounds, in at least 130 skills sectors, enabling them to undertake training through traditional college courses, vocational training, apprenticeships, or one on one training with a master maker. Almost 90% of QEST Alumni are still working in their craft today many acknowledged leaders in their field and passing on their skills to the next generation. QEST currently grants around 40 Scholarships and Apprenticeships per year - however, QEST can only fund around 10% of applications received.
