I've created this page because I want to make a difference. I'm inspired by the work of Waverley College and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in 2022 School Fun Run.
Waverley College Junior School’s annual walkathon has been a popular fundraising event for 30 Years. In 1989, Mrs Helen Newman began this Junior School tradition by implementing a charity walkathon to support children suffering from cancer. The Malcolm Sargent Cancer fund (now Redkite) was the walkathon’s first beneficiary, and the event has since supported 21 separate charities, all closely tied to the caring Waverley College community.
The tradition remains, in a new and improved format that still aims to promote healthy and active lifestyles in a safe and enjoyable whole school fundraising event. The major charities chosen this year are three that have long been a part of the school's fundraising endeavours, and all provide much needed ongoing support to some of the most vulnerable children in Australia.
The three major charities that will evenly share the total amount of money raised for the School FunRun Big Show event include:
The Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation, Starlight Children's Foundation and Children’s Leukaemia & Cancer Foundation.
Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about Waverley College, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
