Story

Pakistan is currently set to be facing severe water scarcity by the year 2040. 80 percent of people living in 24 major cities within Pakistan, do not have access to clean water.

In areas like the Tharparkar district of Pakistan, acute water shortages have increased due to diminished rainfall and increased desertification linked to climate change. Droughts are increasingly common.

Groundwater, which is only accessible by building water wells, is the primary major water source for 1.67 million people in the region, mostly residing in thousands of rural villages.

Who was Bashir Ahmed Khokhar

If someone were to ask me about my grandfather, I'd have a few words to share - He was a simple man.

He passed away when I was just an infant. I was always curious about him though, because he was beloved to my father. I would ask my father how he was, what would he do, what he liked, and the answers were so brief. He was a good man, humble and a great listener, he loved photography, he was like any other common man. When my dad would talk about him, I could sense how much he would miss him. He'd dream of him often, so from time to time, I'd ask him "Dad, do you still see him", and he'd say "Yes, I still see him and I walking down our old neighborhood".

He was just a simple man, but filled with so much love. He raised six beautiful children, and I'm certain if he came to see and know of us, his grandchildren, he would have been the most loving grandfather. My grandmother is his second half, and if she's so full of love, then I can't imagine how great they were if together.

May Allah have mercy on his soul and grant him Jannah.
