Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
Our team is made up of myself (Toria) and both of my daughters (Liv 14) and (Amelia 9) and our target is to complete the 60k swim together.
It is absolutely a charity we want to support especially as both girls have heart conditions...........
Liv has a congenital heart defect called Double Inlet Left Ventricle and she has had to undergo three open heart surgeries (Aged 7 days, 18 months and 4 and 1/2 years) plus countless other operations and procedures. Her heart will never be 'fixed' and we are real advocates of the benefits that exercise brings her (especially swimming) in order to keep her as fit and well as possible within her limits.
Amelia also has congenital heart disease, but fortunately this has currently not required any surgical intervention or medication.
Everybody who knows me knows how much I LOVE swimming, but through a million and one other things to keep me busy I rarely prioritise time for myself to get in the pool - even though I know how much it relaxes my mind, makes me happier and gives me an amazing sense of achievement as well as being really good for my physical fitness.
