Story
Waterloo Festival is thrilled to be offering a Festival Sleep-Out in St. John’s Churchyard on June 8th, to raise funds for the ROBES night-shelter project. This charity, which we have worked with for many years, has helped thousands of homeless Londoners find a bed for the night during the coldest winter months.
If you are over 18 years old, and interested in raising awareness about homelessness, we encourage you to register for this special event. We encourage you to help our fundraising campaign through sponsorship. This is our dedicated fundraising page.
Details:
The sleep-out will take place overnight between Friday 8th and Saturday 9th of June 2018, in the gardens of St. John’s Waterloo, Waterloo Road, London SE1 8YT.
Participants are encouraged to attend the Housing Panel at the Church at 7pm (register here) and then join the Festival Sleep-Out afterwards. If you cannot make the panel event, you can arrive for the Sleep-Out between 9pm and 10pm.
There will be prayers (for those of faith) in the church at 10.30pm and 7.30am led by Cannon Giles Goddard. The Sleep-Out will end with a communal breakfast in the church at 8am on Saturday morning. A dedicated team of volunteers will oversee your safety overnight, and can provide water and hot drinks, as well as access to facilities in the church.
You will need to bring:
Sleeping bag (no tents)
Sleeping mat
Pillow
Waterproof cover/sack in case of light rain.
In the event of poor weather, the sleep-out will moved inside the church.
Feel free to bring along as well any acoustic instruments for light entertainment before lights-out!
Registration is open until Wednesday, 6th June 2018 through the following link. If you have questions about the Sleep-Out, please email festival@stjohnswaterloo.org.
