Story
‘Wassup’ is the outcome of a spontaneous studio session from Bristol comrades Gardna and Selecta J-Man in the closing months of 2020 - a year highly regarded as a rollercoaster for everyone. Although long time friends, the pair link up for the first time on a single release to kick off the new year by bringing something a little different to the table.
'Wassup' is a track with a message, the lyrics are a call out for everyone to check in on their mates and their families, especially now more than ever. Gardna delivers a positive spin on the turbulent times we are going through and urges his listeners to check in on one another more regularly during so. Selecta J-Man shows us his versatility as a producer by cooling down from his signature Jungle / Drum & Bass
sound and giving us this reggae bubbler, kicking off a new side to his forthcoming releases this year. The release also see's Gardna linking up once again with the ever glowing Charli Brix, following the success of their collaboration on Gardna's debut long player Good Time Not a Long Time. Brix's infectious vocals shine through and take ‘Wassup’ to a place where sing-a-long crew are present in the dance hall. Glasgow resident Tom Spirals stays true to his country's traditions with a bright and beautiful Flute line to round things off for their first releases of 2021.
