Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Sponsor me to complete various running events throughout 2009/2010. The next run is the The Golden Hog (50th Hogs Back 8) on 13th December 2009. Spare a thought for those who need help over the festive season and those who do the helping.
My brother Ryan died on 20th January 2009 aged just 38. He lived his last few weeks in and around Winchester and was a frequent visitor to the Salvation Army there. The Salvation Army gave food and shelter and were a source of companionship for Ryan, providing him some of the things he needed to survive a homeless life on the streets. I am grateful to the Salvation Army for their kindness and dedication to Ryan and to others like him who, for reasons of there own end up in seemingly hopeless situations and become lost and destitute.
Ryan was found on the 20th of January lying in the entranceway to the Salvation Army, Parchment Street, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 8AZ. For me, this highlights and is further proof of how much Ryan relied on these wonderful people and knew there was help; shelter and warmth from the bitter cold, sustenance, warmth from the people, the volunteers and dedicated personnel who really do make a huge and positive contribution to the care of others and to our society.
