Story
As many of you know Tristan Simon Disney was born 6 weeks earlier than he should have and he wouldn’t be here today if Staffordshire Hospital didn’t react as quickly as they did. Tristan was in Intensive care for 2 days, he was placed in an incubator and received help to breath and was constantly monitored. Once he was able to breath by him self he was moved on to the High Dependency Ward for 12 days, he was still monitored for his heart rate and breathing and was in an incubator for a further 8 days. The Neonatal ward also accommodated myself and Sarah for 3 nights so we could be with Tristan.
Without the help of the Neonatal ward Tristan wouldn’t have got on the right track so quickly.
Myself and many family members want to raise money for the Neonatal ward so they can help many other babies like Tristan. We are runnning the Uttoxeter Half Marathon on May 6th 2012, your support and donations are much appreciated.
About the Neonatal Ward
“The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is based within the Maternity department and offers care for up to 23 babies and their families. The unit has 6 intensive care cots, 4 high dependency cots and 13 special care cots. There is also a special isolation room.
Babies are admitted for a variety of reasons. Some are born early in pregnancy from 24 weeks gestation, weighing in at just 500 grams, others may be babies who are born at term but are unwell and need our specialised medical or nursing care. Babies are generally admitted from the labour ward or from the midwifery wards and occasionally from other neonatal units.”
