Every summer around 20 hardy Green and Gold members complete a distance running challenge to raise money for St Oswald’s Hospice. This year’s event has sadly been postponed until next August. Never defeated, however, we would like to get the whole club involved in raising some money and hopefully having some fun at the same time. The challenge will take place this Bank Holiday weekend over three days; Saturday 29th, Sunday 30th and Monday 31st August.
Challenge 1 - How far can you walk or run as a team of three? Mixed teams with different ages and abilities. Each team of three will consist of one male, one female and either an over 40 or a junior runner; running together or separately. Each mile that every individual covers counts towards the final total. To be fair, we will organise the teams accordingly. All we ask is to donate a minimum of £5 per person (excluding juniors) to our just giving page. All proceeds will go directly to St Oswalds Hospice, the choosen charity of Wallsend Harriers.
Challenge 2 -How far can we walk or run as a whole club?
It will be great to see how many miles we can clock up as one big team! We would like to stress this is NOT about going out and injuring yourself by running huge distances that you aren’t used to! It’s about doing what you usually do, plus a little more perhaps, having fun, working as a team and raising money for a great cause, with a little friendly competition added in!
