We help families find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them

Story

I will be tackling the Pennine walk in August raising money in aid of my little cousin Daniel. It will involve walking 268 miles which will take around two weeks to complete. We will start from Edale, in the northern Derbyshire Peak District ending in Kirk Yetholm inside the Scottish border.

Daniel was aged just three years old when he was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leaukemia. Daniel has spent most of his life in and out of hospital and was finally given the all clear and rang the ward bell on 23rd December 2018. We were all so relieved this day had come.

Just after his 6th Birthday, (8 months after his all clear) Daniel was complaining of feeling unwell, with back and shoulder pain and was admitted back to hospital.

In October 2019 we were told by doctors Daniel only had two weeks to live. As you can imagine this was truly devastating to hear. The absolute unthinkable was happening. We had never imagined things would become this bad. As a family, every day we continue to remain positive.

Amazingly, Daniel is still fighting the odds and is continuing to fight his illness every single day. Daniel’s speech and movement is improving drastically and we pray and hope that he will make a full recovery.

No child should have to experience this, and no parent should have to endure the pain and heartache this brings.

We live in hope for a cure for his disease and doctors are able to continue to provide him with the right treatment.

Myself and my uncle (Daniels dad) will be doing a Pennine walk to raise money for the CLIC Sargent charity who have worked closely with Daniel and my aunty and uncle. They have offered exceptional support.

CLIC Sargent fights tirelessly to stop cancer destroying young lives. They provide grants and free accommodation close to hospital to help with spiralling costs. They have fantastic team who are on hand to help families with everything from getting benefits to treatment closer to home. And they lobby the government to make sure they get the support they’re entitled to. CLIC sargent make sure young cancer patients can focus on getting their lives back on track.

If you are feeling generous, please click the link and donate to this fantastic charity who help  children and young adults battling with cancer.

I will be documenting the walk as we go along so keep your eyes peeled for updates. I have never done anything quite like this ! I am feeling nervous and excited but very ready for the challenge.
