Story
Update 1 - Hi all, I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has donated so far! The response in such a small period of time has been incredible!
We are three brothers (John, Paul and Sean) who are walking 120 miles from Montrose, North East Scotland, to Celtic Park, Glasgow, in honour of our dad, Steven Pert, who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in January 2022. We are hoping to raise money for MND Scotland who are a huge support to our parents and family. Our journey begins on 17 August 2022.
Motor Neurone Disease is a rapidly progressing terminal illness, which stops signals from the brain reaching the muscles. MND Scotland offer advice and information about living with MND, and provide support to help improve the quality of life of those affected.
Steven Pert (58) is a lifelong Celtic supporter who began travelling to Celtic games in 1980 where he watched Celtic play Real Madrid at the age of 15. In the 42 years since then, Steven and his wife Yvonne have travelled all over the world to watch Celtic play and attend fan association events. Steven was one of the founding members of Montrose Celtic Supporters Club in 1992 and has held a season ticket since then, travelling from his home in Montrose to Glasgow for every home game, almost without exception. This was a journey we took as a family hundreds of times growing up so we feel that this challenge is the natural choice to honour our dad.
Over the course of five days, we are walking from Montrose to Celtic Park. We will cover a total of 120 miles, finishing at Celtic Park in time for Celtic to play Hearts on 21 August 2022. We will be taking on between 26 and 30 miles for four days, with our last walk the final eight miles to Celtic Park in time for kick off.
We hope to raise lots of money for MND Scotland who have been a huge support to our parents and our family as a whole as we come to terms with our dad's diagnosis. We are so grateful for your donations, and we will of course keep you up to date with our journey as it takes place!
Thank you
John, Paul and Sean
