Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
This walk in support of the Cystinosis Foundation UK, was proposed by Matthew Buist from Macduff, inspired by the courage of family member Lena Forsyth (9) who is one of only fifteen people in Scotland to have this condition.
The condition means Lena has to take medication five times per day, to prevent cells in her body turning into crystals, causing organ damage. The side effects of the medication limits the activities Lena can participate in, although she is a very determined and courageous young girl. The condition is very rare and occurs in 1 in every 200,000 births. The Cystinosis Foundation UK is a charity established in 1999 and their aim is to carryout research into this condition to achieve a better understanding and earlier diagnosis, helping sufferers lead a longer and fuller life. Our team, comprising family members and friends will walk the 65 mile Speyside Way from Aviemore to Buckie in April 2010, camping throughout the journey.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
