Story
Hi, I'm Roger. I'm 73 and an RAF aircrew veteran.I'm hoping to raise some funds for the RNLI because they are the true heroes I would like to have been and risk all for no reward. Like everyone my life has had its ups and downs but in my case both came on the same day.19th April 1979 my aircraft crashed and I found myself trapped inside the wreckage of the aircraft as it sank in the South China Sea. That was the down, but the big up was that by some miracle, some might say divine intervention, I survived. Could have done with RNLI on that day ,but there are none there.
Nevertheless, anyone who has met the RNLI must be filled with admiration, and so, now, as I find I have the time and the resources I would like to give something back. Fingers crossed and I'll walk the North Coast 500 when circumstances permit. I have walked 400 miles this year and 280 in the last 28 days. So, I'm in with a chance.
In aid of charity and dedicated to everyone I've met over the last 73 years, even those who wish I hadn't.
At my age and in these uncertain times nothing is guaranteed, so if I can't make Scotland I'll still walk the 500 locally, if physically possible. Can't be fairer than that.
now commencing 17th May.
Roger
