As we begin to celebrate and enjoy the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, appreciating the comfort of a smile once again, embracing loved ones in joy and pain, meeting, greeting and eating together, let's not forget about those still suffering.

While the pandemic has pushed millions of people globally into poverty through loss of employment, resource scarcity and burdened healthcare systems, those who were already impoverished were the hardest hit, and will face the longest struggle to recover from the devastating impacts.

How do you begin to rebuild a life when you are simply striving to survive such burdensome circumstances, people who were making progress out of poverty towards sustainability now find themselves pushed backwards.

As followers of Jesus and children of a God of Justice who cares for the poor, the widow and the oppressed, we will not leave those living in poverty behind as we move towards the light at the end of a very long few years.
