Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm taking part in the Worcester Hearty Walk 2019 with family and friends, plus hundreds of other fundraisers who support the British Heart Foundation and I would be so grateful for your support, either by donation, or by signing up to do the walk with me.
Did you know 1-in-4 people die from heart related illnesses in the UK. The BHF helps to fund vital research and has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease, but there's still so much more work to do.
In 2017 I collapsed at school during PE and was diagnosed with Restrictive Cardiomyopathy a rare heart disease which causes heart failure. There is no cure and I have been on the heart transplant waiting list for almost a year.
Around 40 children in the UK are just like me and are waiting for a heart donor. Adult donor registrations have steadily increased - and the 'auto-opt-in' legislation will provide an added 'boost' - however the number of paediatric donors has not increased in the last decade. Around 10 of us, currently on the waiting list won't make it, due to the lack of donors.
Why not sign up and take a walk with me on 7th April. It will be lovely to see you and a lot of fun ! - Don't forget to bring your dogs.
