Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
From August 1st 2016 I will be attempting to walk the Length of the Zambezi river!
It will be a solo and unsupported journey starting at the source of the great river in the Kalene Hills, North Western Zambia. From there I shall follow the river by foot for 1599 miles through hostile and remote regions that surround the rivers banks! Until eventually reaching the Indian Ocean and my end goal.
Reasons for wanting to take on such a huge challenge and walk the length of the Zambezi river are because I'm hugely driven by the past explorations throughout the Zambezi region. I want to take on my own wild adventure and also in turn help promote wildlife conservation!
Testing myself in this, the wildest of environments, drives me to tackle such a massive challenge and highlight the growing concerns of all the illegal poaching of wildlife and all other hugely important conservation issues.
My main aim during the walk is to raise money and awareness for wildlife conservation throughout Africa and to highlight the growing concerns of wildlife crimes happening all over the world.
I have chosen to raise money for the David Shepherd Wildlife foundation and this is just some of the important things your generous donations will go towards.
- sending undercover agents into the field to investigate illegal wildlife crime, training and supplying anti-poaching patrols
- establishing nature reserves and other protected areas
- working with governments to establish conservation laws and regulations
- educating wildlife consumers about the plight of the animals they 'use'
- teaching young people about endangered wildlife through art and school
These are all serious issues that need immediate attention if we are to preserve the wildlife we have left in this world. Its a sad reality that if we don't act now then we might lose some of the most precious and interesting creatures to have ever graced this earth.
Please help me along my journey and donate whatever you can.
A huge thankyou ☺
