Walking The Wall for Will, 2 June 2021
We are the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) and we're leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.

Story

In 2014, we lost Will after he took his own life at the age of 22. In memory of what would have been his 30th birthday, this July a group of his friends and family will be taking on the 84 mile walk along Hadrian's Wall. Alongside his passion for scuba diving, Will loved history and was a massive fan of Game of Thrones, so we know he would have loved to walk The Wall with us. While we have fun and remember our friend (and maybe learning some history), we would also love to raise some money!

Will was an avid England Rugby supporter which meant the Six Nations was always an interesting time of year with his Welsh father, Alan. Will lost his mum, Sue, when he was 18 but did follow her passion for Classics as he studied History and Ancient History at Exeter University. Whilst trying to avoid team sports at school Will discovered scuba diving and went on to travel the world working as a diving instructor and underwater photographer. He had an infectious smile, until you pointed a camera at him, and a great sense of humour. He was always up for fun, whether that was building "Fort Maiden" at a particularly soggy Download festival, a spontaneous fancy dress party, or watching all Lord of the Rings back-to-back. It is not always obvious when someone is struggling with their mental health and his loss changed the lives of everyone close to him which is why his sister, Emily, with the help of his friends, decided to organise this event in his memory.

We are raising money for The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) which is leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.
