Story
18 years ago, just before I was born my Grandad walked from John O'Groats in Scotland to Land's End in Cornwall, in order to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in memory of his son, who died of cancer at the age of ten.
This expedition has been an aspiration of mine for many years, and now I want to make it reality. For the last six years my own mother had been fighting a brain tumour, and The Royal Marsden provided her with outstanding treatment and care. Devastatingly, on 4th November 2013, she lost her life to the cancer. This will undoubtedly motivate us to complete the walk and raise as much money as possible
Those guys are great- they truly do a fantastic job. I want to follow my Grandad's footsteps- walk from John O'Groats to Land's End. For the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. For my mum.
The walk is almost 900 miles long, and takes over six weeks. Thats basically walking a marathon every single day, carrying all your equipment and camping for six weeks. It certainly won't be easy.
To accomplish this I have teamed up with my girlfriend- the amazing Ailsa Northwood, and together we will complete the walk for charity.
Please, donate generously; the Royal Marsden is an extraordinary charity.
Love,
George
