Andrea's Walkingforspace

Between Land and Sea · 22 January 2017
I am concerned with how much our increasing human population and often careless attitudes are impacting the earth and destroying so much of the planet's wild spaces. The protection of these places across the globe is important for both our survival and wellbeing. It doesn't get much more urgent than that, and yet the natural world is compromised and disappearing every day.
Time and time again I have been soothed, centred and inspired through reconnecting with nature and have decided to walk from Porto to Santiago, following the old pilgrimage route along the coast which forms part of the network of routes of the Cammino di Santiago. I will be walking solo between 25 to 35 km a day for approximately two weeks starting on the 23rd August 2017. I will be walking at a pace that feels right, and it is by no means a race.
This walk is to find some space, inside and outside of myself, in a world that can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming. By gratefully reconnecting with nature and the simplicity (or challenge!) of putting one foot in front of the other, I also hope to raise £1000 for the protection of some wild spaces around the world, where nature might be allowed to regenerate and flourish. #walkingforspace
I hope you will consider sponsoring my Walkabout and in so doing support the WLT, which is a truly wonderful international organisation involved in effectively regenerating forests, protecting reserves as well as creating new ones. Trust me, trust Dave! (WLT's Patron is David Attenborough) Donating here is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. I will be emailing those who donate with updates from the long and winding path!
Please also feel free to get into touch with me if you want to know any more about the walk or WLT. Your support is much, much appreciated.
