Story

Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page!

We're raising money for the Happy Healthy Fun Day 2013 by organising a sponsored 3km run or Walk for Wendy, taking place on April 28th at Brook Farm Open Space.  This way, you can still support the day even if you can't come along yourself.

The Happy Healthy Fun Day is a one day event for adults with learning disabilities to come together and learn about healthy living.  It attracts 300 people each year, with most of these being people with learning disabilities.

The event is held on Learning Disability Week, and this year will be on September 11th.

People with learning disabilities have poorer health than their non-disabled peers, and face many health inequalities.  The day aims to address these issues, and promote healthy lifestyles by providing information and advice in a fun and interactive way.

Although the money will be coming to Barnet Mencap, it is a multi-agency event, planned by a group also including Barnet Integrated Learning Disability Service, Your Choice Barnet, Norwood, Dimensions, Self Unlimited and LBB Adult Social Care, as well people with learning disabilities.

Our friend and colleague Wendy Hodgson was a great supporter of the Fun Day, and we can think of no better way to remember her and celebrate her life than to hold this fundraising event in her name.
