Story
Hi everyone,
This summer, some wonderful friends of mine and I will be hiking around 37km along the South West Coast Path to raise money for the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre (ERCC). Recently, we are thrilled that the conversations around mental health have become less taboo - seeing others raise money for charities important to them have inspired us to do the same. There are still some subjects, including sexual violence, that often seem too awkward to talk about and those who experience such situations may feel undeserved guilt or shame.
To put it simply, 1 in 4 women in the UK have been raped or sexually assaulted and around 50% of people who experience such events develop long-term PTSD.
The Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre is a phenomenal charity that provides counselling and other methods of support to women, members of the trans community and young people aged 12-18 that have undergone sexual violence, for which I know many people are eternally grateful.
Any donation would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you!
Mila :)
