Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Most of you will know Dougie through one way or another, and no doubt most of you will have had your life affected in a positive way as a result. His death left a massive hole in the lives of so many people and he is sorely missed.
From the start of this year we had been planning to do this challenge and to raise funds for CHAS, a charity very close to his heart. Dougie took every opportunity to be out in the wild, whether that was exploring the Ochils, wandering through great glens or up the big bumps in the Highlands. He also loved to read, from ancient stories about Arabian princes to books about how lives will change in the 21st century, and everything else in between.
So it seems fitting that we (Neil, Stuart & Witold) now continue with this and try to raise as much money as possible. To that end, we're attempting to run/hike/crawl from Erraid, a tidal island off Mull, all the way to Edinburgh. This is roughly 270 miles over the Scottish highlands, or
a marathon-and-a-half per day, climbing the equivalent of Mount Everest.
To make it even worse we'll be carrying all our own equipment and sleeping in the wilderness. It's a retrace of the route taken in Robert Louis Stevenson's famous book, Kidnapped, and you can find full details using the following link:

and a Google Earth Fly-through here:

This is an exceptionally demanding (and daunting!) challenge. In the book the main characters took about 2 months - we're attempting to do it in 1 week!!
Anything you can spare to help toward our fundraising goal would be massively appreciated.
