Matt Hampson Walk 2010 · 22 May 2010

We deliver sport for social change projects to increase life chances of young people

Story

A number of your colleagues at Cheviot Asset Management are taking part in the Matt Hampson Walk which runs from the 22nd May-29th May.

Matt Hampson was an ex-England U21s player who had an unfortunate scrummaging accident on the 15th March in which he was left paralysed from the neck down. Monies raised for The Matt Hampson Trust Fund will go towards raising funds to support Matt and others in a similar situation. The Matt Hampson Walk is also an event being arranged by Matt Hampson to support a variety of charities.

The money you donate will go towards a number of charities including Matt's Trust Fund, SpecialEffect and Henry's Trust. The first two are supported by Matt Hampson, the third is a specific charity for an ex Saracens Academy player called Henry Fraser who had an unfortunate accident while surfing with his friends resulting in him damaging his spinal cord.

We will be taking it in turns to walk (in total 110 miles) from Rugby to Twickenham in time for the Guinness Premiership Final (29th May). The walk will follow the tow path of the Grand Union Canal, and the walkers will be followed by a fleet of narrow boats. Each Guinness Premiership club will have it's own boat which will provide overnight accomodation.

Some well known professional (current & former) rugby players will probably make an appearance and it should be televised on Sky Sports. Rugby legends such as Martin Johnson and Will Greenwood took part last year and we should see them again, as well as other Professional Rugby Players.

Cheviot have been involved with Saracens since the beginning of the season 2009/10 and this is a great opportunity to show our support for such a great cause.

To find out more about the walk you can visit the website: www.walk4matt.org.

We hope that you will support us in our efforts to raise as much as possible.

Many thanks
