*update September 2020
I know I've hit my goal but I will be keeping this donations page open until March 2021 for people to read Amelias' story and my blog and if we make a couple more pence for the Childrens hospice all well and good.

In July 2020 I will be walking the Ulster Way to raise funds for the NI Children's Hospice.
I am aiming to walk the 1000km length of the Ulster Way in just over 30 days non stop. Details are yet to be finalised but watch out on our social media channels for updates as we progress our plans.
Below is a little bit about Amelia for those of you that didn't know her.
Amelia Grace Carter was born 30th December 2015 with Trisomy 18 also known as Edwards Syndrome. Life expectancy of a baby not still born with Edwards Syndrome can be as little as hours and after she was born doctors gave her around a week.
The strength & character shone through in our little Amelia who was with us four months. During this time we visited the NI Children's Hospice on a number of occasions including an overnight stay for two nights. The care and compassion shown by the hospice staff towards Amelia as well as our other two; Ethan & Sophia during these trips was second to none.
Amelia had to be tube fed for the duration of her short life so Emma expressed milk for this reason and any excess milk was sent to the milk bank to help other babies and their mothers. The process of tube feeding is simple enough but the frequency of the process was quite tough, especially in the early days with Amelia needing fed every two hours - day & night. Emma's mother Jacqueline helped with this and many other elements of Amelia's care, to which we were truly appreciative.
Every month we celebrated Amelia's 'month' birthday with a small family gathering, a cake and an abundance of food. This was a great wee celebration of Amelia's milestones and we looked forward to it every month. Unfortunately we only got to have four of these celebrations with our Amelia. After a short stay in the hospital we then moved to the Children's Hospice and on the 4th May 2016 Amelia passed away in her mother's arms.
Although a sad time for all, we tried to make Amelia's Funeral an uplifting day to celebrate her short life. It was very well attended with people coming from all walks of life to attend the service at a small funeral home in Antrim. We then moved to the crematorium at Roselawn for another small service and the cremation of Amelia. Finishing the day at Corrs Corner with food and a drink.
* Charities pay a small fee for our service. Find out how much it is and what we do for it.
