Story

Viv is our inspiration and we want to share the love and respect we have for this most amazing woman.

All of us particpating in our local walk, either directly or behind the scenes, have been touched by the magic of Viv. She is a powerhouse; always there for you when needed. Whether as a colleague or friend, Viv instinctively knows when to reach out to offer a guiding hand or a much needed shoulder...and if you live in or come from Staffordshire she's probably touched your life too. As a maternity nurse, she's brought prescious new life into the world. Later, as a health promotion specialist, she made sure the right services were in place to protect some of the most vulnerable in our society. More recently, working with her husband and family, she has brought joy and success with her own brewery.

Now Viv has been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma while already living with long Covid...yet, she continues to inspire with her positivity, joy for life and love for all her family and friends.

With the support of her family and to honour our friend Viv, we will be joining the national walk of light campaign on March 26th 2022, taking the 10 mile canal route from the Festival Park, Etruria in Stoke-on-Trent (ST1 5PA) to The Borehole, Mount Road in Stone (ST15 8LL).

If you too want to celebrate Viv, join us either in Etruria for the 4pm start or at any point along the route. Donations welcome by all; whatever you can afford. All proceeds will go directly to Blood Cancer UK.

Blood Cancer UK information below:

We're a community dedicated to beating blood cancer. We do this by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, our community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
