Story
This November, the board and senior team at Wahaca and DF Tacos are sleeping out to support Centrepoint in their incredible mission to combat youth homelessness.
Centrepoint is one of the key charities that make up our ''Wahaca Foundation'' and one that Tommi has worked with for years as an ambassador and a regular judge for their annual ''Big Broth'' competition. We currently support and donate to them via our specials menu sales, various internal fundraising initiatives and with future aspirations of being able to support young homeless people get back on their feet and into employment again. The SleepOut however is not something we've ever been involved with before and so this year, we thought we'd get the team together and do our best to raise as much money as we can to help get young homeless people off the streets and give them the chance of a better life.
Although by no means a replica of sleeping rough, the Wahaca and DF Tacos team will be joining 100's of other individuals for one night in November, and spending a cold and uncomfortable sleep in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as a way to raise money and awareness for Centrepoint and the get a better insight into the lives of people who have no choice but to sleep like this every day. SleepOut raises money to help change the story for thousands of homeless 16-25 year olds in the UK. 103,000 young people experience homelessness every year and the effects can be devastating. Centrepoint supports young people to recover their health and find a job and home of their own. Their approach works and 86% of those they work with leave Centrepoint positively. Please sponsor me as much as you can because although I'm spending just one night outside of my comfort zone, homeless young people will have faced much worse.
Thank you in advance for any donation you are able to make!
Love Mark, Tommi and the team at Wahaca and DF Tacos xx
