We want everyone to learn first aid to build a nation of first aiders

Story

In Summer 2019

One of Britain’s greatest adventurers, Sir David Hempleman-Adams, is testing his limits once again. This time, despite being a novice sailor, he’s challenging himself to sail solo from London to New York to raise funds for first aid charity St John Ambulance.

Why not embark on your own voyage of discovery?

We’re challenging you to set sail on your own journey of discovery with St John Ambulance. You can do this by joining the thousands of volunteers who support their local communities, or by organising your own fundraising venture!

Discover yourself: volunteer for St John Ambulance

People who volunteer with St John Ambulance learn even more than vital life-saving first aid skills. They learn about themselves – their strengths, their talents and how they can contribute to our world. They discover how to get along with people, how to make decisions and how to overcome obstacles. You don’t need to travel the high seas to find your true North – just volunteer with St John Ambulance.

Launch your expedition: fundraise for St John Ambulance

Anyone who’s navigated their way through organising an event or challenge to raise money for a good cause will tell you it’s a journey worthy of comparison with famous adventurers. Whether it’s running a marathon or hosting a 24-hour tea party, achieving your target takes determination, preparation, perseverance and a commitment to reaching your destination.

Come on board with St John Ambulance

St John Ambulance is the charity that steps forward when it counts to save lives and support communities. Its highly trained volunteers keep people safe at events nationwide, springing into action to help with medical incidents and emergencies. The organisation also helps the NHS by responding to some 999 calls, as well as transporting patients safely. And every year around 500,000 people, including children and young people, learn how to save a life through its first aid training. St John Ambulance has saved lives and relieved suffering for over 140 years, and – with the support of the public – will do so for decades to come.

Join us... and embark on a truly worthwhile adventure.
