On Thursday 11 April, from 10am - 4pm, Volvo Cars Poole on Ringwood Road is hosting a special ‘Throwback Thursday’ event to raise money for Dorset Cancer Care Foundation, a charity that helps local people and families who are affected by cancer.
The event will feature a range of classic cars for the guests to view, including the Volvo 360GLT and the Volvo 740 TURBO Intercooler Estate F-reg and team members will be taking a step back in time and dressing up in 80s outfits for the special event.
Dorset Cancer Care Foundation provided support to team member, Michelle McCourt last year, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Michelle is now an ambassador, and will be on hand to raise awareness of the charity.
Michelle McCourt, Receptionist at Volvo Cars Poole said: “Last year was an extremely difficult time in my life, and Dorset Cancer Care Foundation supported me when I needed it most.
“I made friends with people at the charity’s coffee mornings, which was really important to me as they understood what I was going through. I became an ambassador as I saw first-hand how much the charity supports people, and want to help others in a similar position.
“My teammates at Volvo Cars Poole have been fantastic and have really got behind Dorset Cancer Care Foundation with this classic car event. Everyone knows someone in Dorset with cancer, and so it’s great to be raising money for such a worthy cause.”
James Litton, General Manager and Director, added: “Michelle is such a valued member of our team here at Volvo Cars Poole, and we are all proud of her becoming an ambassador for such an important charity.
“We are excited to showcase a range of classic cars and raise awareness of Dorset Cancer Care Foundation. We’d encourage families
in Dorset to come see the retro Volvos, as it’s not very often that you get a line-up of 80s and 90s cars together.”
