Story
Save the Children was founded on the belief that every child has the potential to change the world. This belief remains at the heart of the organisation today. It underpins everything we say and do - as reflected in our strategy ‘What we believe, what we’ll do’.
Save the Children is a worldwide charity that makes sure children are safe and healthy, supports them to learn, grow and become who they want to be. Save the Children exists to help every child reach their full potential. They find new ways to reach children who need them the most, no matter where they’re growing up.
In England:
- 23% of children do not reach the expected level of language development by the age of five.
- 1 in 3 children living in poverty fall behind with their education.
- 27% of children from poor families get 5 or more good GCSE passes, compared to 55% of peers from wealthier families.
Over the next year the VolkerFitzpatrick Rail and Infrastructure team will be running charity events along with other support mechanisms for the charity. Details will follow in due course and will be open to everyone to either participate or donate.
To kick start the fundraising the SMT will be taking part in a 2817 mile virtual travel to Syria from the 1st Feb to 28th Feb 2021 by either walking, running, cycling, or rowing.
