"As a young boy I tragically found my mum dead on the settee and as my Dad left us when I was only a baby that part of my life will always be very painful and traumatic. I was very fortunate however, with two older sisters who between them were able to take me in and give me a home and safety.

There are millions of children worldwide that don't get that opportunity and without practical and financial assistance they just will not survive. I can help those children have a glimmer of hope, by supporting the work of the Railway Children and proactively engaging as many people as I can in their cause - that way we can all make a difference.

The Railway Children's 'Goals for Girls' project is dear to my heart being a farther of two daughters, and knowing the issues we have to deal with as a loving family - I can hardly imagine just what these poor girls have to face. The project arms young girls in East Africa with the knowledge and ability to protect themselves and empower them to improve their personal situation despite adversity. I have campaigned for many years at a local and national level for Dignity Bags for homeless girls and street workers. 

I am both humbled and honoured to run the London Marathon for the Railway Children - supporting an exceptional charity whilst achieving a person goal of mine."
