Thanks for your support with my London Marathon Adventure!
I am running the marathon to try and raise funds to help support the ongoing work and research that Alzheimer’s UK are doing to try and help improve the quality of life you can lead when you have the disease.
My Nan was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2015 following on from a series of Strokes. Watching someone you love lose every memory that they’ve ever acquired is one of the most heart breaking experiences you could ever go through as the person you know is still physically there however they have lost the ability to remember you or their lives.
Dementia is the biggest health crisis of our time according to health experts and new current statistics show the condition was the primary cause of death in England and Wales last year.
Currently there is no way to slow, stop or treat the diseases that cause dementia but with the right support, research can change this.
I am and never intend to be a runner of any kind - hence why I chose to play in goal - but this is one challenge I have no intention of shirking and will be completing the 26.2 miles as best as I can in order to raise vital funds for such a worthwhile cause.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and any donation, small or large, is greatly appreciated!
