Story
Unfortunately, my Grandpa was first diagnosed with dementia in 2009 and being the Army Officer he was, vowed "to not let this bloody thing beat me". True to his word, he battled with this horrible disease for 8 long years, passing away in 2017. He fought the disease right to the end, not letting it affect his gentle nature. He truly was 'one of a kind'.
Being very close to him, it was obviously very hard to say goodbye. He retained his sense of humour, smiling his way through life. He was still running up to 5 miles a day on his beloved Dartmoor even at the grand old age of 85! I would love to be able to honour his memory by raising at least £2000.
Shockingly, in the UK, 1 person will be diagnosed with Alzheimers every 3 minutes. Any donation would be greatly appreciated!.
