Story
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for hopefully donating once you have!
As many of you may know, dad was a keen runner (turned race walker in later years!) and no race fulfilled him more than the London Marathon. Dad completed this race a remarkable 25 times in his life and his passion for it only grew over the years. Quite simply - he loved it!
His commitment to fundraising and drawing awareness to his chosen charities was an inspiration to me. So, following in his footsteps, I signed up for my first marathon in Helsinki 2 years ago and dad was delighted.
Unable to contain his excitement that finally one of his offspring had taken up running, dad didn't hesitate in asking if we could complete his beloved London Marathon together one year. I said I would love to...
Sadly, dad was stolen away from us in December following a tragic but thankfully only short suffering from cancer, and so his dream to run his adored race with his favourite (only!) daughter was taken away.
I immediately knew that I had to run this year’s race for him and with just half the normal training time remaining, I signed myself up.
I will be taking to the streets of London in my trusted running shoes on April 21st to complete the gruelling 26.2 mile course whilst raising money for the very worthy cause that is cancer research. I am passionate about this charity and believe with all our help we will find cures for cancer and the lives of people like my dad will no longer be taken by this evil disease.
Please, please dig as deep as you can to help me reach my £2000 target and help give me the encouragement I will need on the day to get me through what will no doubt be a very emotional and physically trying event in my life.
Finally, I would love to see as many of you there on the day as possible to help create that fantastic atmosphere dad loved so much!
With all my heart, thank you
