Thanks for taking the time to visit my page - would be genuinely grateful if you would leave a small donation and/or share!
I have been very lucky and lived a privileged life - I’ve always been surrounded by loving friends and family, never had to worry about food or shelter, and always got what I wanted. However not everyone is dealt the same cards in life.
It is a painful fact that many children and young people in Britain today are still suffering extreme hardship, abuse and neglect. Too often their problems are ignored and their voices unheard. This is why I have chosen to support The Children’s Society.
The Children’s Society is a national charity that helps children and young people when they are at their most vulnerable, and have nowhere left to turn. They also campaign for changes to laws affecting children and young people, to stop the mistakes of the past being repeated in the future. Any campaign wins will bring life-changing support to more than 5.6 million children.
Children are the future pillars of our world - the world that we will share when we are old and frail, the same world our own children will live in. What kind of future do you envision for your older self? What kind of society do you want to leave for your children?
The Children’s Society also support refugees. Last year they worked intensively on a one-to-one basis with 674 refugee and migrant children, supporting them with many different challenges. Specialist staff across the country provide support and advice for those who arrive alone in this country helping them to settle, stay safe and navigate the complex immigration system. They also help them get access to the services they need - from housing, health and education to legal advice and counselling to help them recover from the trauma they have experienced.
I may not be able to make a big difference myself, but together we can shift mountains. Whatever the size of the donation, The Children’s Society will manage the gift responsibly to ensure the maximum benefit for children. For example, more than 69p from every £1 they receive is spent directly on services and campaigns to transform the lives of children and young people. I give what I have, and what I have is time, and a little bit of money.
So the big question - What will you give? Time? Money? A “share”?
In order to maximize my fundraising, I’m happy to consider/take on any fundraising ideas or challenges – feel free to leave a message with requests and comments! #ChallengeMe
